A data transmission cable is a type of cable that transmits information in the form of communication signals between two or more systems. Many types of data transmission cables are used in daily life. In these cables, information, and binary data of zero and one are mobile. Binary data is created from a sequence of zero and ones and is transferred from one device to another, which is responsible for their transmission via the data cable.
CAT Cable
The "CAT'' in CAT5E, CAT6... stands for "Category". Network cables ( Signal Cables ) are divided into categories based mainly on bandwidth (measured in MHz), a maximum data rate ( measured in megabits per second) and shielding. They represent a very popular type of network which is used for wire network ( a wire type which connects devices to the internet or other networks using cables ). They are used to connect devices located on local area Networks (LANs) such as routers, PCs and switches.
The cable type is selected for data transmission based on the working environment.
Data transmission cables are divided into different categories based on the type of application.
RCA Cable
RCA cable is a type of data transmission cable. It is made of specific colors and is used to connect to the TV. This cable has three colored branches that are connected to one cable from the end and to three alternating color inputs located behind the TV or video projector.
This cable transmits information in analog form. Its quality depends on factors such as manufacturing materials, connector type, cable length, and protection.
VGA Cable
VGA cable or port consists of a three-row interface equipped with 15 pins. The VGA port pins are 15 in groups of 5, and the top, middle, and bottom three rows. There is also a type of VGA cable called Mini-VGA. These cables have 14 pins and consist of two rows of 7.
DVI Cable
DVI cables are the newer generation of data transmission cables. These cables support the transmission of information digitally and, therefore, have replaced analog systems. They are often used to connect digital displays to computers.
The DVI cable looks like the VGA cable, except that it is equipped with 24 pins. This cable supports digital and analog signals.
DVI cables can display videos with 1920 × 1200 HD.
HDMI Cable
HDMI cable (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a new interface for transmitting audio and video simultaneously. Unlike other computer cables, such as VGA or DVI, HDMI can support audio and video simultaneously.
HDMI cables are marketed in types A, B, C, and D, of which type A is more famous. This type of cable is known to have 19 pins in its male head. Type B is larger than type A and has 29 pins on the male head. Type C has 19 pins and is mostly used for portable devices such as cameras. Type D, which are more like micros and have 19 pins.
USB Cable
USB cable is one of the most widely used and available cables. All digital devices, such as laptops, televisions, and computers, have at least one USB port. Currently, three types of USB cables have been released to the market, which distinguish them from each other in terms of speed.
