LEDs and pretty much all electronic devices are sensitive to input DC voltage and clean current, power supplies simply convert the input AC voltage to DC voltage for the electronic equipment and devices, and they also help in the optimal performance of electronic devices. 

Power supplies are designed to provide stable and clean DC/AC output and often have protective features to protect electronic devices.

LED video walls, LED panels, LED signage, or any other type of display receive power from power supplies, and based on the design they can have different AC inputs like 220 V or 110 V and outputs like 3.3 V, 4.6 V, 5.00V etc. 

So it is always important to know what range of AC voltage gets to your system and what range of DC voltage your system requires to perform the best. 

Power supplies like other products, are designed and manufactured with different features. 

Temperature Protection, Over-voltage protection (OVP), Over-current protection (OCP), Short circuit protection (SCP), protection against surges or spikes, Under-Voltage protection, etc. which help to improve their performance. 

In addition to the lighting industry and other industries, LED power supplies are very important, they significantly help reduce electricity consumption, which is also very beneficial for the environment. Also quality of the power supply is very important to the performance and lifetime of the device. 

The power supply packaging types are different, they are divided into Enclosed / Open frame / U-Channel / PCB mount / DIN rail / Wall-mount / Rack-mount / Desktop or … groups. 

Also, their group size is different based on the dimension of the package such as Miniature/Compact (less than 3cm height) / Low profile (3-5 cm height) / Standard (5-20 cm height) / Large (or high-power: over 20 cm height). 

Power supplies are different in their specification such as Input Voltage Range, Input Frequency Range, Input Current, Efficiency, Output voltage, Adjustable Voltage, Output Rated Current, Output Rated Power, Ripple & Noise (max.), and Voltage Tolerance. 

Working Temperature Range, in the power supply is different this attribute defines the range temperature of the environment in which the device can work properly without any issue. 

Using a power supply can ensure the amount of heat input to the device because it prevents overheating by using cooling systems, which leads to an increase in device life and better performance.
